Christmas Postage!

Today, I listened to the Nutcracker as I wrapped presents for my family. This frugalista's budget presented me with a choice of one of my usual holiday treats of attending The Nutcracker or A Christmas Carolor participating in a gift exchange with family. Personally, I'd like all of us to attend a holiday production, however, or schedules dictate a simple exchange.

This photopeach spiral reminds me of Christmases past.

In Honor of My Mother

My mother ran a beauty salon for over 37 years with the main purpose of creating the illusion of "good hair". When I first saw the trailer for the Chris Rock documentary, Good Hair in the theatre, I was immediately reminded of my mother and her salon. I have been awaiting the arrival of this movie in theatres. Register and read the NY Times article, here. Today is my mother's birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!

The Girl Can't Help It

Frenchy's Celebrates 40 Years

This is my once-every-other-month guilty pleasure. I know that I am a pescetarian, but, I just have to have "my Frenchy's" every once in a while. It is not just a craving for any fried chicken, but a need for Frenchy's. About twice a month, I pick up Popeye's for the family and I never even taste it. Thank you Frenchy's!

Accordion Kings & Queens

Busy day today. Breakfasts at Mom and Dad's, then an honor society luncheon. Over 20 years ago, I was inducted into this honor society for my profession, however, I needed to be inducted again. I was informed by national that records are not kept for such a long time period, especially if I did not renew my annual membership. So today, I was inducted again. That was ok with me, but, I would have liked to re-join the University of Texas chapter, rather than Houston. Nevertheless, I was proud to be honored. After, that an afternoon visit with my sister. The evening consisted of the missed unveiling of the Barack Obama bust. I'll just have to settle for a viewing tomorrow.
Then a cajun, polka, conjunto, and zydeco concert. See the video above. It features Cedryl Ballou on lyrics from an earlier performance. He was in Houston tonight with the Accordion Kings and Queens concert. The video below features Houston's own Johnny Ramirez. He is the 2008 winner of the Big Squeeze Competition for amature accordion players 25 and under.

Then, I went home for a nap. Last, a late, late, late dinner at Myi's.

More Crushes

A few weeks ago, I completed one of those Facebook "Which Celebrity Should I Marry Quizes". I was so floored with the result. It was as if they posess the ability to scan my heart. The result was Jude Law!!!! I have been crushing on him for years!!! Now if only this could happen!!!

The past two days:
-BJ's PVD surgery was almost 4.5 hours rather than 1
-WGH went not to regular doc, but nurse practioner after 2nd EMS visit
-WGH decided to go to dentist! Whew! Wee!
-ES is still recuperating from heart surgery, but in pain
-Due to a series of events, I am home now, rather than chaperoning the prom. Maybe I'll have time for some virtual fondling on Enid Collins on eBay.
- I hope everything turns out OK for Mattress Mack. Even though, I never shopped at Gallery because I disagree with some of his political contributions, his philanthropic actions prove that he is a good and caring person.

While surfing fashion blogs, I found more Tom Waits. I interpret the first photograph as Tom's nod to Christianity.
