Crossing the Path of Moodafaruka Since the '80s

My friend's band plays tonight. So strange; I first heard founder Rom Ryan play at a party at his house in the '80s, then in 2007 Terrance played for a holiday party at my job. Then in 2008, I mentioned Terrance's performance to my friend Adam who is a percussionist. At that time, Adam he told me that he knew Terrance and Rom. Now my friend Adam is also a member of Moodafaruka . Although, I have heard Romulus, Terrance, and Adam play live separately, and I listen to their CDs; I have never heard Moodafaruka play live. I cannot go listen to them tonight because another friend has a birthday party across town. For sure next week!!! Why don't you go and tell how you like it.




Adam, do not feel too bad. I shall see you next week. I am also going to miss Stayin' Alive: One Nite of the Bee Gees at Miller Outdoor Theatre and ZZ Top and Aerosmith at the Woodlands. I'll also miss Mixers and Exlixers at Museum of Natural Science. Wow! How could one make it to all these in one night anyway? This is reminiscent of my "It Girl" days.

Accordion Kings & Queens

Busy day today. Breakfasts at Mom and Dad's, then an honor society luncheon. Over 20 years ago, I was inducted into this honor society for my profession, however, I needed to be inducted again. I was informed by national that records are not kept for such a long time period, especially if I did not renew my annual membership. So today, I was inducted again. That was ok with me, but, I would have liked to re-join the University of Texas chapter, rather than Houston. Nevertheless, I was proud to be honored. After, that an afternoon visit with my sister. The evening consisted of the missed unveiling of the Barack Obama bust. I'll just have to settle for a viewing tomorrow.
Then a cajun, polka, conjunto, and zydeco concert. See the video above. It features Cedryl Ballou on lyrics from an earlier performance. He was in Houston tonight with the Accordion Kings and Queens concert. The video below features Houston's own Johnny Ramirez. He is the 2008 winner of the Big Squeeze Competition for amature accordion players 25 and under.

Dee-Litefully Haunted

Oh what an awful and disappointing news day this has been:
Libby's remarks on Sotomayor; vanished plane from Rio; North Korea; GM; Dr. Tiller, and more. While being saturated with such negative incidents, my mind keeps traveling back to 1990 concert I attended. I cannot get the images out of my head. Yet, what really haunts me is the guilt of being fixated on Groove is... The bad news is I dissappoint myself.
